Job Description

The primary responsibility of this position will be accountable for the plants HR function and a key member of the leadership team. You will work closely with leadership to accomplish the strategic of optimising workplace performance in support of business goals. You will work closely with the HR team, building employee engagement by driving the development and attainments of business strategies and plans through strategic HR planning, organisational design and talent management.

Responsibilities

  • Drives organisational initiatives;

o Talent Management, Employee Engagement and L&D

  • Performance Management – drive performance management initiatives
  • Consult with Managers on training and development issues, make recommendations for training and development strategies for broad and individual needs
  • Coaches leadership on performance management and participates in counselling and/or disciplinary proceedings
  • Attract, recruit, retain and develop talent

o Build internal and external networks to source talent

o Partner with hiring managers to recruit top talent

o Work with managers and employees to create development plans

o Identify and develop high potential internal candidates through succession planning process

  • Leads and manages a team of HR professionals
  • Contributing towards the Global HR strategy
  • Creation and monitoring of Personal Improvement Plans with Managers
  • Ensure all HR practices and procedures are compliant with employment legislation
  • Directs all aspects of Recruitment and Retention activities
  • Responsible for the on boarding of all staff in conjunction with line managers
  • Ensure all employees follow the procedure in place for sickness reporting, return to work interviews are carried out, absence levels are monitored and dealt with as per the company policy
  • Assist and coach managers on any disciplinary or grievance issues
  • Employee engagement and culture - developing engagement strategies and ensuring the employee life-cycle is in keeping with the Organisational core values
  • Develops and monitors an annual training budget
  • Manage staffing at appropriate levels to meet business goals
  • Implement and maintain procedures to minimize absence/illness rate
  • Organizational restructuring planning and implementation
  • Workforce Planning, short-term and long-term
  • Internal/External Trend/Data Analysis in key areas

  • Oversees and manages the work of reporting HR team. Encourages the ongoing development of the team

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in an HR department
  • Degree educated or equivalent CIPD qualification
  • Previous experience in a strong HR partnering service in a large manufacturing environment
  • Strong organisational skills to handle high volumes of work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment while maintaining excellent delivery and quality performance
  • Proven oral and written communication skills to convey information clearly and effectively
  • Good knowledge of employment law
  • Experience working with Unions or work councils

  • Can quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships with department managers. Demonstrable maturity, professionalism and gravitas
  • Demonstrate an understanding of personalities and behavioural styles in order to work collaboratively with a variety of people and to make informed decision around resourcing, reporting structures and relationships
  • The ability to inspire confidence of the PM and other senior managers through timely delivery of information and plans. Works independently of PM, but consults where appropriate
