The Human Resources (HR) Summer Intern program provides exposure to HR initiatives through hands-on work within a specific area of HR and in collaboration with professionals from various areas within HR. About the Ameriprise Financial Internship Program: Our 11-week summer intern program provides experience in a collaborative and inclusive environment. As an Ameriprise Financial intern, you will gain exposure to leaders, cultivate your business knowledge, work on projects that directly impact the business, and network in a welcoming atmosphere. In addition, you will have access to our Business Resource Networks, including the Black Employee Network, Young Professionals Network, PRIDE Network, and others! Responsibilities As a Human Resources (HR) intern, you will contribute to delivering best-in-class HR tools, solutions, and support to meet the evolving needs of the business and our workforce while learning and developing skills to help you launch your career in human resources. Responsibilities vary depending on assignment. HR functional areas include: • Benefits • Compensation • Diversity & Inclusion • Employee Relations • HR Business Partners • HR Compliance • HR Services • Human Capital Insights • Project Management • Rewards & Recognition • Recruiting • Talent Development & Organization Effectiveness • Talent Management *HR Intern assignment focus is determined based on business need as well as interest areas of the selected intern. Assignment decisions are typically communicated to interns 2-4 weeks before the first day of employment. Examples of past intern assignments include: • HR Services - Assist with processing employee data transactions, participate in HR systems projects requirements gathering and testing activities • Diversity & Inclusion - support D&I team with planning and execution of the annual Global Inclusion Week event, build communications, resources, and training guides/toolkits to support strategic diversity & inclusion initiatives • Recruiting - participate in recruiting strategy meetings, candidate sourcing, review and update job postings and interview guides • Human Capital Insights - assist with review and testing of newly developed HR reports and analytics • Employee Relations - Participate in the employee relations quarterly global HR policy review and participating in employee relations cases Required Qualifications Current Junior at a 4-year university pursuing a Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field Graduation date of December or May/June Demonstrated leadership experience Preferred Qualifications High degree of self-motivation with strong integrity and ethics Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills Ability to work and communicate collaboratively with others Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Interested in gaining broad Human Resources experience Extracurricular leadership role experience The company does not offer corporate undergraduate internships for students with F-1 visas.
