Overview
Energy Jobline is supporting a major international energy infrastructure programme and is seeking an experienced Hook-Up & Commissioning Superintendent to support offshore installation and commissioning activities for marine terminal infrastructure.
The role will focus on ensuring Single Point Terminal (SPT) systems are installed, tested, and commissioned safely and efficiently prior to operational handover.
The Role
Reporting to the Project Commissioning Manager, the Hook-Up & Commissioning SPT Engineer will coordinate offshore hook-up and commissioning activities associated with marine loading and terminal systems.
Working closely with installation contractors, vendors, and marine operations teams, the role ensures SPT infrastructure is integrated, tested, and prepared for safe hydrocarbon transfer operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute offshore hook-up and commissioning activities for Single Point Terminal (SPT) systems, including buoy and loading infrastructure
- Coordinate installation and commissioning of components such as CALM buoys, hose systems, risers, mooring systems, and product transfer equipment
- Ensure integration between subsea infrastructure, pipeline end manifolds, risers, and terminal systems
- Supervise pre-commissioning activities including pressure testing, leak testing, and functional verification of terminal systems
- Monitor mechanical completion and ensure systems meet project specifications prior to commissioning
- Support system energization and integration of control systems such as SCADA, telemetry, emergency shutdown, and fire & gas systems
- Lead offshore commissioning teams and coordinate vendors and subcontractors during installation and testing activities
- Maintain commissioning documentation including punch lists, redline drawings, and commissioning dossiers
- Liaise with marine teams regarding vessel operations, buoy positioning, and mooring system readiness
- Support offshore start-up activities and performance testing prior to terminal operations
Skills & Experience
- Strong understanding of offshore marine terminal systems and oil transfer infrastructure
- Experience with SPT or SPM systems including mooring systems, flexible hoses, risers, and loading equipment
- Ability to interpret engineering documentation such as P&IDs, process diagrams, and hook-up drawings
- Experience supervising offshore commissioning teams and coordinating multidisciplinary contractors
- Familiarity with SIMOPS, offshore logistics, and vessel coordination
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and commissioning documentation
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Automation, Instrumentation, or Process Engineering
- Minimum 12 years’ experience in offshore commissioning or marine terminal projects
- Experience supporting offshore installation and commissioning campaigns
- Excellent written and spoken English communication skills

The advertised day rate applies to independent consultants operating on a contract basis. Candidates who prefer to be engaged as employees of the client may be offered a different remuneration structure.
