Job Description
I'm currently recruiting for a Highways Engineer to join a well-established civil engineering consultancy based in Northampton. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity within a growing infrastructure team working on a wide variety of residential, commercial and education projects across the UK.\n\nThe Role\n You'll be supporting senior engineers on the design and delivery of highways and infrastructure schemes-from early concept work through to detailed design. The position offers exposure to roads, drainage, earthworks, and broader civil engineering elements, with involvement across technical design, drawings, calculations, and client liaison.
\nDay-to-day responsibilities include:\n\nDeveloping design solutions for highways and infrastructure projects\nPreparing technical reports, calculations and design documentation\nSupporting project coordination, client communication and design delivery\nProducing high-quality drawings and models using industry software\nCarrying out site visits and surveys\nEnsuring designs meet current standards, regulations and health & safety requirements\nCollaborating with internal engineering and technical teams\nSoftware Exposure\n You'll have the chance to work with leading industry tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroDrainage and PDS. \n\nWhat We're Looking For\n\nWorking knowledge of AutoCAD (and ideally other civil design software)\nUnderstanding of civil engineering principles, including highways and drainage design\nStrong communication skills and attention to detail\nAbility to work independently and as part of a team\nFull UK driving licence\nA proactive, organised and motivated approach\nFamiliarity with UK design standards and CDM regulations\nThis consultancy also offers ongoing professional development, structured training, and support toward career progression.\n\nIf you'd like to discuss the role or learn more, please apply or get in touch.\n\nWill Herman \n (phone number removed)\n\nAldwych Consulting values and promotes equality.
