Job Title: Service Technician

Department: Service

Reports to: Service Manager

Note: This position will be based out of our Juneau, Alaska Branch. Having experience with Hitachi, Volvo, Epiroc Equipment is a great plus. Will assist in relocation and housing.

Summary

Under limited supervision, the service technician performs work of considerable difficulty in the repair and maintenance of heavy construction equipment; performs related work as assigned.

Essential Functions:

  1. Follow directions of the assistant service manager and service manager in a safe and timely manner.
  2. Maintain a clean and orderly shop and service truck.
  3. Attend schools/training as related to job requirements.
  4. Responsible for check in and check out of all rental equipment.
  5. Prompt completion of time cards and stories in order to allow for proper billing of time on work orders.
  6. Submission of parts requisition and returns when necessary to complete work as assigned.
  7. Able to travel to remote sites in Alaska and trouble shoot and repair any type of equipment.
  8. Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and electrical systems on construction equipment.
  9. Able to read and understand parts and service manuals to recommend repairs of equipment.
  10. Troubleshoot and repair all aspect of heavy construction equipment in any condition at any location.
  11. Able to work in underground and surface mine locations.

Education and Experience

  1. Within the last 10 years:
    1. Five years’ experience and/or training in heavy equipment repair and maintenance
    2. Or any Combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.

 

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Job Type: Full Time

Schedule:

  • 8-12 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday, weekend rotation
  • On call
