Summary:
The Fleet Mechanic will ensure the repair and maintenance of Fessler & Bowmans GM fleet collection. You may also assist in working on other equipment which could include heavy machinery and smaller equipment. Working with the Shop Manager and other team members, the Fleet Mechanic is a crucial part of making sure Fessler & Bowmans business runs smoothly. The following descriptions are representative of, but not limited to, the expectations for the position.
Five Key Roles of the Fleet Mechanic:
- Ensure fleet vehicles are maintained through repair and preventative care
- Maintain compliance with DOT inspection procedures for all vehicles and trailers
- Troubleshoots various systems including electrical, drive train, HVAC, brakes, engine, suspension, and tires
- Identifies needed repairs and performs corrective actions
- Maintains repair order write-ups to include detailed repair description, cause of failure and correction/repair used
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Uses diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults
- Interprets test results and determines the most efficient repair procedure
- Communicates with and provides Equipment Director/Shop Manager with accurate and detailed repair information
- Obtains supervisor permission to complete diagnosed repairs and/or add additional repairs
- Adjusting equipment, replacing faulty parts, and repairing damaged equipment parts
- Manage lubrication and oil change service on all equipment
- Reporting damaged or faulty equipment to management
- Other relevant tasks as assigned
Education, Experience & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Proficient experience with gas powered vehicles required
- Experience with GM vehicles a plus
- Minimum of 3 years of mechanic experience
- Valid Drivers License with clean driving record
- CDL Class A
- F&B will provide all tools, toolboxes, and other materials deemed necessary for the position.
Travel:
Travel to surrounding job sites may be required for this position. Fessler & Bowman will compensate for travel when applicable.
Work Environment:
As a Fleet Mechanic, you will be subject to various work environments. Environments include but are not limited to the following: high/low temperatures, areas close to traffic, loud and frequent noises, confined spaces, heights, indoor/outdoor settings.
