Position Summary
As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment directly at customer sites. This includes mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting, accurate documentation, and consistent communication with team members and customers to ensure timely and high-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Diagnostics & Repair

Diagnose and repair heavy equipment issues in the field

Recreate customer complaints and recommend additional repairs

Perform inspections and communicate needed parts and materials
-
Complete repairs safely and efficiently within quoted time
-
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Work Order Documentation (3C: Complaint, Cause, Correction)

Enter accurate notes and time entries into electronic work order software

Ensure all records are legible and cost items are documented

Follow company procedures for daily documentation and reporting
Customer Communication & Inspections

Communicate clearly with customers about equipment status and repairs
-
Conduct thorough equipment inspections and identify additional service needs

Support the service team in quoting and planning repair work
Safety, Tools, and Vehicle Maintenance

Adhere to OSHA safety standards and complete OSHA 10 training
-
Maintain and return tools and equipment in clean, working condition

Perform daily pre-trip and monthly vehicle inspections
-
Schedule and perform regular vehicle maintenance
-
Operate field vehicle in compliance with DOT regulations

Qualifications
-
High school diploma or GED required
-
2+ years of experience in diesel, ag, auto, or heavy equipment repair
-
Technical degree in Diesel, Heavy Equipment, or related field a plus
-
Strong understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems

Ability to read and interpret schematics and technical manuals
-
Welding and cutting torch experience
-
Must have or be able to obtain DOT physical certification

Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service mindset
-
Able to lift 50100 lbs, stand for long periods, and use power tools daily
