Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician
Onsite: Cedar Rapids, IA
Travel: Regional travel, mostly same-day (10% winter months, 70% summer months).
Our client, a local leader in aggregate processing equipment and custom fabrications, to add one to two Heavy Equipment Field Service Technicians to their team.
This is a full-time, hands-on role where youll diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy equipment both in the shop and out in the field. Theyre looking for dependable, hardworking people who dont mind putting in 4050+ hours a week during the busy season. Prior heavy equipment experience is a big plus.
What Youll Do
- Operate and inspect new and used machines to diagnose defects and ensure proper operation
- Diagnose and repair heavy equipment in the shop and in the field
- Travel to customer sites for service calls (mostly local/day trips; some overnight travel for larger projects)
- Complete and submit service reports after each job, with accurate details for the office and customer
- Follow MSHA and OSHA safety regulations on every job
- Maintain and clean shop areas, service trucks, and field equipment
- Represent the company professionally with customers and coworkers
- Assist with other service tasks as assigned by the Service Manager
What Were Looking For
- Reliable and willing to work 4050+ hours per week (some Saturdays in busy season)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Technical trade school training or hands-on experience with hydraulics and electrical circuits a plus
- Strong mechanical background and troubleshooting skills
- Valid drivers license with a clean driving record
- Good communication skills with coworkers and customers
- Comfortable with physical work: bending, stooping, standing, climbing, crawling, pushing, and pulling
- Basic reading, math, computer, and record-keeping skills
Pay & Schedule
- Pay: $30$35+ per hour (based on experience)
- Overtime: Time and a half after 40 hours
- Schedule: MondayFriday, 6:00 AM 2:30 PM (first shift)
- Travel: Seasonal about 10% in winter, up to 70% in summer (mostly local/day trips)
