D.H. Griffin Companies is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic to join our team in the Houston, TX area. As a Heavy Equipment Field Mechanic, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of heavy equipment, ensuring the safety and longevity of our fleet. Responsibilities
- Perform routine maintenance checks on company-owned and/or leased vehicles and equipment
- Repair, replace, clean, and lubricate vehicle/equipment parts as necessary
- Examine and repair hydraulic components for fluid leaks, ruptured hoses, or worn gaskets
- Travel to job sites to make repairs to heavy equipment as necessary
- Use diagnostic devices to identify components in need of adjustment or repair
- Rebuild or replace engines, repair hydraulic fluid pumps, and correct electrical problems as needed
- Work in various environments, including hot and cold temperatures
- Complete repair orders and use e-log/log book
- This position may require extended travel periods.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five (5) years job-related experience
- Knowledge of small engine equipment, such as generators and compressors ()
- Experience with engines, transmissions, electrical systems, suspension, and brake systems
- Knowledge of heavy equipment parts and performance requirements, including hydraulics
- Advanced education or training in electronic computerized diagnostic systems and equipment ()
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend service manuals
- Proficient in using hand and power tools, welding and flame cutting equipment
- Valid driver's license and safe driving habits
