Position Description: The diesel mechanic will maintain and repair our fleet of tractor/trailers by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Furnish quality major in-house repairs to the Tractor/Trailer fleet
- Furnish quality minor in-house repairs to the Tractor/Trailer fleet
- Determine vehicle condition by conducting DOT inspections and diagnostic tests
- Identifying worn and damaged parts Complete preventive maintenance schedules Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics
- Verifies vehicle performance by conducting test drives; adjusting controls and systems Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Railcar maintenance
- Keeping records
- Ability to maintain positive relationships with team members, vendors, and customers Perform other duties as assigned
- Ordering Parts
Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Driver’s License
- Working knowledge in the use of hand tool
- Dependable attendance
- Computer use and knowledge
- Certified Diesel Mechanic
- CDL no required but
- 1-2 years Mechanical experience
