Job Description
Health & Safety Engineer\n\nLocation: Gloucester\nHours: Full Time\nSalary: £32,000 - £40,000 per annum dependent on experience\n\nWe are recruiting for a Health & Safety Engineer to ensure the integrity of all H&S aspects of the company’s Integrated Management System (IMS) in line with international standards, legal requirements, and company policy. The role involves driving continuous improvement, promoting a positive H&S culture across the business, and supporting accreditations through internal and external audits. Reporting to the UK QHSE Lead, this position requires collaboration with local managers and stakeholders to ensure compliance and best practice.\n\nKey Responsibilities of a Health & Safety Engineer:\n\n * Develop, implement, and monitor safety programmes, policies, and procedures\n\n * Conduct internal audits, workplace inspections, and risk assessments, identifying and addressing non-conformances\n\n * Support accident and incident investigations, including root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions\n\n * Maintain and update the company’s legal register, COSHH assessments, and risk documentation\n\n * Manage contractor control processes, including permits to work, RAMS, and dynamic risk assessments\n\n * Oversee PPE checks and ensure workplace tools and equipment comply with PUWER and safety regulations\n\n * Manage obligations under the Producer Responsibility (Packaging Waste) Regulations 2007\n\n * Provide toolbox talks, training sessions, and promote employee engagement in health and safety initiatives\n\n * Analyse trends from incidents and near misses to recommend preventative actions and process improvements\n\n * Collaborate with the facility team to share best practice and ensure consistent safety standards across all business units\n\n * Support continuous improvement using tools such as Plan-Do-Check-Act, 6S, and Root Cause Analysis
