Health Information Manager is responsible for successful maintenance of patient records and
organizational and administrative operation of the Health Information Management Department. Manages the responsibility
for operational aspects of department. Serves as resource for facility regarding medical record content and regulatory
requirements. Always assures availability of the medical records per hospital policy. Assure Physician/LIP
credentialing/recredentialing per company policy and procedure. Assures duties are done in accordance with facility
policies and procedures, JCAHO, federal and state regulations, and QAPI standards.
UR role: Employee is responsible for assisting with the coordination of insurance benefits for all patients on all units
throughout the organization. Employee is responsible for assisting in the assurance that all patients are preauthorized for
covered days by all third-party payors for which it is required. Employees communicates effectively with insurance
companies, practitioners, therapists, nurses, and other staff to ensure appropriate utilization data in contained in the medical
chart. Employee protects patient privacy by following hospital policy and federal privacy laws. Employee maintains the
electronic insurance file on each patient admitted to the hospital. Employee coordinates with the corporate office for the
coordination of utilization review activities. Employee performs other duties as assigned
