Health Benefits Manager
Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Health Benefits Manager for an organization located in the Sacramento area! This role will provide executive-level oversight of key benefits programs – including health, dental, , and optional insurance plans. You’ll lead cross-functional teams, manage vendor relationships, and ensure compliance across all operations, while serving as the go-to expert on benefit strategy and execution. Core duties and responsibilities include:
- Design and lead long-term benefit strategies aligned with organization goals.
- Oversee annual open enrollment and collaborate with consultants on plan design.
- Monitor industry trends and legislative updates to inform decisions.
- Lead audits to ensure eligibility, accuracy, and timely payments.
- Direct staffing, scheduling, and performance management.
- Serve as a liaison for vendors, carriers, and external stakeholders.
- Ensure full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
Required skills and qualifications:
- 10+ years in group benefits administration, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Must have experience in self-funded benefit plans
- Strong knowledge of health, dental, LTD plans, and CalPERS operations.
- Experience with insurance contracts, summary plan descriptions, and state compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and benefits administration systems.
- Strong leadership, team building, and negotiation skills.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is from $120K to $130K, depending on experience.
