About the Role
The Company is seeking a Head of Nuclear Engineering with a strong background in nuclear science and engineering, particularly in the fields of defense or power. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical direction and engineering project coordination for nuclear work, including ship's reactor plant mechanical, electrical, and structural hardware and systems, reactor plant testing, and facilities and support systems. This role also involves supervisory and managerial responsibilities in areas such as quality and process, recruiting, training, and development, project engineering and planning, and waterfront operations and support. The Head of Nuclear Engineering will be expected to have extensive knowledge of related engineering fields, the ability to respond to radiological emergencies, and a proven track record of dealing with diverse stakeholders in highly technical or regulated environments. Applicants for the Head of Nuclear Engineering position at the company must have engineering qualifications compliant with the Washington Accord, or qualifications and experience meeting the requirements of a Chartered Professional Engineer. Formal qualifications in nuclear science and/or engineering recognized by AUKUS partner countries, as well as a Master's degree or higher in a related field, are also required. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of Australian nuclear regulatory license requirements, submarines, the navy, or defense, and a demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams and grow talent. A SECRET Clearance is mandatory. The role demands a leader with the ability to set clear organizational standards, guardrails, and to identify and implement high-quality solutions to complex problems in a high-stakes environment.
