The Head of Market Analysis
North America Gas & Power oversees regional market modelling and analytics for gas and power trading, while also informing the market point of view on gas & power in North America. This role guides the development of high-quality forecasts, scenario tools, and actionable insights to support trading decisions across seasonal and prompt tenors. Serving as the primary interface to trading leadership, the Head of Market Analysis- NA Gas & Power ensures analysis is regionally grounded, commercially aligned, and globally coordinated.
Your responsibilities may include:
Own end-to-end responsibility for the accuracy, depth, and commercial relevance of gas and power market analysis across North America with connection to global markets
Lead the team in developing robust short-, medium-, and seasonal supply-demand balances, with full geographic resolution
including understanding the unique role of key pipeline systems, storage hubs, power, transmission grids, market, and cross-border flows
Ensure the team maintains comprehensive modeling across all key trading tenors (BOM, M1, M1M2, Quarterlies, Calendar Year, Summer and Winter Strips), and can evaluate risks such as weather-driven demand swings, freeze-offs, infrastructure outages, and project-driven shifts in capacity or flow
Oversee the team's analysis of key price signals, regional basis spreads to support trading and asset optimization strategies
Guide analysts in structuring and evolving models around all major storage points, regional power supply & demand trends, renewables, and LNG flows, ensuring methodological consistency and technical soundness
Require and verify that the team models and interprets market fundamentals across the full gas and power value chain, including demand, supply, storage, intra-regional flows, and imports/exports
Be accountable for ensuring all analytical outputs are aligned with trader priorities, scenario-ready, and delivered in a format that supports fast, informed commercial decision-making
Responsible for direct line and functional management of North American gas & power analysts
Define and evolve commodity-specific methodologies, models, and tools; ensure best practices are codified and scalable
Embed deep subject matter expertise across the team and broader business through knowledge sharing, coaching, and analyst development
Drive alignment on global gas & power analytics priorities, ensuring consistency and commercial relevance across regional teams
Lead the development of short- and medium-term gas & power market balances and pricing views, integrating global supply, demand, inventory, and policy dynamics
Provide input into Chief Economist Office annual long term price forecasts
Act as a gas & power thought leader, shaping the analytical narrative and driving scenario-based forecasting used to inform trading strategy
Align team workflows with broader analytics standards, contributing to the adoption of best practices in methodology, reporting, and internal collaboration
Partner with regional traders and commercial leads to integrate analytics into position-taking, origination, and risk management, ensuring insights are both timely and actionable
Translate market movements, policy changes, and structural shifts into clear implications for trading, providing ongoing feedback to adjust strategy and exposures
Clearly communicate market insights, trends, and trading recommendations to senior traders and management, highlighting the potential impact of supply-demand shifts on trading positions
Ensure the team effectively uses global data management platforms (e.g., Snowflake), continuously identifying opportunities for workflow automation and digital enhancement
Collaborate with the Head of Trading Analytics and digital teams to evolve model architecture, streamline reporting, and strengthen integration with trading systems
Coordinate with cross-bench, Crude, LNG, and other macro analytics teams to ensure alignment on market assumptions, geopolitical developments, and global fundamental dynamics
Basic/Required:
Bachelor's degree or higher in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, other related field or foreign equivalent
7 or more years of experience in market analysis, trading analytics, or commodity research
3 or more years of experience managing analytical teams and working directly with trading leadership
3 or more years of experience on a trading floor in market analysis or trading analytics
Advanced level of knowledge of North American Gas & Power dynamics and global market linkages in gas, power, and LNG

Gas & power fundamentals: Deep expertise in gas and power market drivers, including production trends, pipeline flows, LNG, power burn, weather, and storage dynamics
Market economics & price formation: Strong understanding of basis pricing, curve structure, margin behavior, and the mechanics of supply/demand response in both physical and paper markets
Modeling & forecasting: Proven ability to build, validate, and manage high-impact models; skilled at translating complex market signals into strategic insights and tradeable views
Trading literacy: Solid grasp of concepts such as tenor structure, spreads, basis markets, optionality, and risk/reward tradeoffs across seasons and time horizons
Commercial mindset: Strong commercial instincts with a demonstrated track record of identifying value through analysis, model development, and collaboration with trading desks
Stakeholder engagement: Capable of partnering with traders, meteorologists, commercial teams, and cross-regional analysts to drive aligned, consistent insights
Operational fluency: Functional understanding of pipeline systems, gas-fired power demand, storage operations, and weather-driven volatility in market structure
Execution under pressure: Comfortable leading in high-stakes environments with rapidly evolving fundamentals and a high bar for insight precision and speed
Delivers results through realistic planning to accomplish goals
Analyzes stakeholder needs, global, political, and market trends to understand how they shape the future and impact business results
Drives thoughtful and pragmatic change, encourages innovative thinking and continuous improvement, and models adaptability through resourcefulness, flexibility and positivity
