Job Description
PSR Solutions are currently recruiting for Head of Engineering role in London. This will be working for a well established contractor within the Rail, M&E and Civils experience.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLeadership & Team Building\n\nBuild, lead, and mentor a high-performing Electrical Engineering team.\n\nFoster a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous development.\n\nTechnical Oversight & Design\n\nLead the design and assurance of complex electrical systems (LV/HV up to 33kV, lighting, CMS, SCADA, UPS, BMS, etc.).\n\nEnsure full compliance with safety standards, industry regulations (including BS 7671 and ATEX), and internal processes.\n\nStrategic & Operational Development\n\nEstablish and enhance internal design capability, processes, and tools.\n\nDrive technical input into tenders, business development, and client engagements.\n\nGovernance & Safety\n\nOversee peer reviews, technical audits, and post-project learning.\n\nSupport investigations and ensure engineering safety across all project phases.\n\nContinuous Improvement & Innovation\n\nLead initiatives around BIM integration, compliance, sustainability, and digital engineering.\n\nChampion CPD, knowledge sharing, and the embedding of best practices.\n\nSkills & Experience\n\nEssential:\n\nExpertise across electrical design, process systems, hazardous area compliance, and BIM integration.\n\nIn-depth experience in LV/HV systems, protective devices, control systems (SCADA, DCS, PLC), and power distribution.\n\nStrong leadership and mentoring skills with a track record of team and capability development.\n\nClear understanding of CDM, DSEAR, and electrical safety legislation.\n\nQualifications\n\nEssential:\n\nDegree in Electrical Engineering.\n\nChartered Engineer (CEng) with a relevant institution (IET, IMechE, CIBSE).\n\nNEBOSH Construction Certificate.\n\nBS 7671 (18th Edition) & C&G 2391-52 (Inspection & Testing).\n\nFull UK Driving Licence.\n\nCompetencies & Behaviours\n\nDecisive, adaptable, and collaborative under pressure.\n\nExcellent communication skills at all organisational levels.\n\nStrong client-facing ability-able to balance commercial and technical needs.\n\nCommitted to mentoring, CPD, and travel when required.\n\nFluent in English (written and verbal); confident in technical reporting.\n\nExperience Required\n\nMinimum 15 years' experience in infrastructure or heavy industrial projects.\n\nStrong hands-on background as a Design Engineer, Project Engineer, and Commissioning Engineer.\n\nIdeally has worked across both contractor and client-side roles, with exposure to Network Rail CRE responsibilities
