Contract Details\n\nJob Title: Hardware Engineer - Piezoelectric / Ultrasonic Systems \nDuration: 6 months initially\nLocation: Hybrid (3 days/week) or on-site, North London\nOutside IR35 \n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign high-voltage and low-voltage analogue driver circuits for piezoelectric transducers, including pulser and continuous-wave excitation stages. \nDevelop low-noise analogue receive chains for ultrasonic signal acquisition, including LNAs, VGAs, filtering, and signal conditioning. \nDesign and optimise impedance matching networks to improve power transfer, sensitivity, and system efficiency.

\nDesign and iterate PCB layouts for ultrasonic drive, receive, and mixed-signal subsystems. \nIntegrate piezoelectric transducers into complete hardware systems including power electronics, ADC/DAC stages, timing circuits, and embedded or FPGA-based control. \nSupport prototype development, bring-up, debugging, and rapid hardware iteration.\nDevelop and execute test and validation procedures for ultrasonic hardware performance.

\nCollaborate with acoustics, mechanical, and systems engineers to ensure correct transducer operation and integration within the full system. \n\nEssential Skills\n\nStrong analogue electronics design experience\nExperience with precision analogue circuit design \nPCB design/layout experience using tools such as Altium, KiCad, or equivalent \nHands-on laboratory experience with oscilloscopes, signal generators, and measurement equipment \nUnderstanding of signal conditioning, filtering, and low-noise design principles \nStrong hardware debugging and troubleshooting skills \nAbility to interpret experimental data and iterate hardware designs effectively \nFamiliarity with embedded systems or mixed-signal hardware integration
