We are working with a disruptive Paignton-based technology company that is developing breakthrough hardware solutions for high-performance computing and advanced connectivity — with real-world applications in data infrastructure, AI systems, and beyond.
They are looking for a Hardware Design Engineer with experience at both board and system levels to join them in their mission to redefine how data moves through complex systems — driving speed, efficiency, and sustainability.
You will be involved in the design, development, and testing of advanced hardware prototypes, helping to take products from concept through to production. This hands-on role includes circuit design, integration, validation, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams and external manufacturing partners.
This position is ideal for candidates with 4–5 years of hardware design experience gained through academic research or commercial engineering roles.
Responsibilities:
- Design and integrate advanced hardware modules, including high-speed digital and embedded systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across electrical, mechanical, RF, and software disciplines.
- Perform board bring-up, validation, and system-level troubleshooting in a lab environment.
- Conduct signal and power integrity analysis to ensure optimal performance.
- Support compliance testing (e.g. EMC/EMI) and work with partners through the manufacturing process.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous hardware improvements.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience in hardware development, ideally involving high-speed or embedded systems.
- Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, and board-level design principles.
- Familiarity with scripting like Python or TCL for automation and test setups.
- Skilled with lab tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, and VNAs.
- Proficient in PCB design tools such as Altium or Cadence.
- Knowledge of thermal and mechanical aspects of electronic systems.
- Degree in Electronics, Physics, or a related engineering discipline.
