Position Title: Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE)
Location: Tampa, FL (USSOCOM HQ)
Position Overview:
S2Technologies is seeking an experienced Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to support critical cybersecurity initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in information system security engineering, with demonstrated experience applying the Risk Management Framework (RMF) to federal information systems in alignment with NIST SP 800-37. This role also requires hands-on expertise in security engineering and architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as part of integrated project team designing and developing organizational information systems or upgrading legacy
- Employ best practices when implementing security controls within an information system including software engineering methodologies, system/security engineering principles, secure design, secure architecture, and secure coding techniques.
- Apply expert knowledge of cybersecurity policy, procedures, and workforce structure to design, develop and implement a secure enclave environment.
- Possess documented experience contributing to the Assessment and Authorization (A&A) of information systems under Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) compliant Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Coordinate security-related activities with information security architects, senior information security officers, information system owners, common control providers, and information system security
- Document changes to systems and
- Assist with developing and maintaining system policies and procedures for network security, virus protection, user accounts, maintenance, and utilization.
- Engineer and implement security solutions.
- Provide remediation of vulnerabilities identified on infrastructure devices.
- Analyze information assurance-related technical problems and provide engineering support in solving these problems.
- Ensure compliance with DoD guidance, regulations, and instructions as they pertaining to the unit's systems/networks.
- Notify the government when changes to DoD guidance, regulations, and instructions impact the unit's systems/networks.
- Perform vulnerability and risk analyses of computer systems and applications during all phases of the system development life cycle.
Required Qualifications:
- DoD 8570 IASAE Level III certification (Government will allow a 3-6 month waiver to obtain the required concentration of either ISSAE or ISSAP).
- Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science or related field, OR equivalent experience/combined education with 5+ years of professional experience.
- 5 years performing security engineering and architecture.
- Note: 10+ years of security engineering and architecture experience can be used instead of Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science.
Skills & Tools:
- Demonstrated knowledge of C2 systems, CIP/COP platforms, and operational task organization structures.
- Experience supporting geographically dispersed units and reporting operational capability gaps.
- Strong oral and written communication skills for technical training and coordination.
- Experience in implementing, training, and documenting software systems, including SOCOM or Joint operational platforms.
- Proven leadership and/or coordination across Combatant Commands and Joint Task Forces.
- Experience in operational planning, software fielding, and mission command integration.
- Participation in or leadership of AoR-level working groups and technical forums.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel globally in support of operational units.

- ACTIVE Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility
Education
- Bachelors' Degree in Computer Science or related field, OR equivalent experience/combined education with 5+ years of professional experience.
