Salary: £28,000 – £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
Working Hours: Flexible – Full-time ( 37 hours)

Role Summary
The Structural Engineer will work closely with the Director to manage and deliver a growing portfolio of structural projects. The successful candidate will undertake a mix of site inspections, design calculations, drawing preparation, and client liaison. This is a hybrid role, with work-from-home flexibility and regular site visits in the Plymouth/South Devon area.
Key Responsibilities

Conduct site inspections to assess structural forms and conditions of existing buildings.

Prepare structural calculations (both by hand and using design software) for building control submission, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.

Develop cost-effective and buildable structural solutions that meet the client brief and project timescales.
*
Produce clear and accurate structural drawings and sketches for use by clients, contractors, and building professionals.
*
Respond to technical queries during construction phases.
*
Prepare written reports following structural surveys and inspections.
*
Maintain and manage client relationships to ensure high levels of service and satisfaction.
*
Assist in managing project finances, including preparing invoices and tracking costs.
Person Specification
Essential:
*
Degree in Structural Engineering (BEng or MEng).
*
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
*
Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, and meet deadlines.
*
Willingness to travel for site visits across Plymouth and South Devon.
*
Proficiency in using structural analysis software and Microsoft Office suite.
Desirable:
*
Relevant experience in building structures (open to graduate through to senior level).
*
Chartered or working towards Chartered status (ICE/IStructE).
*
Familiarity with UK Building Regulations and Eurocodes.
*
Experience with AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
