Job Description
A leading, mid-sized chemical and process technology supplier is seeking a driven, self-motivated Global Automation Engineer to join their growing manufacturing organisation. The business services customers across the whole value chain in a variety of applications from refinery and emissions, to petrochemicals production, and new sustainable alternative fuels/ materials.
They have a proven background in the industry, and the market presence to be dealing with the biggest names in the industry, but also the agility and pace to adapt to the ever-changing market. This position is a key hire as the company strives for continuous improvement across multiple global manufacturing sites, with a focus on improving automation and process controls.
You will be responsible for identifying, managing and executing process control capital projects across multiple global sites, with the ultimate goal of improving product quality and consistency, focused on the Delta-V controls environment. You must liaise with Operations, CapEx and Project teams to identify and define control systems requirements and to organise and complete successful implementation across multiple process areas. The role is a strategic engineering position, where you will define the strategy on process controls initiatives globally, with an initial focus on two flagship sites in Europe.
The role will see you take ownership of control system projects related to plants contributing €120M+ in sales. You will lead implementation of projects which total >€5M, often with at least 20% being focused solely on controls systems and upgrades. It is imperative you have a strong controls design background from a process environment such as chemicals, pharmaceutical, or food production. In the position you lead Delta-V projects globally, and act as a technical liaison between IT, Operations, Maintenance and R&D.
This position will see you in a highly-visible and autonomous position within a growing business, aiming to complete ongoing capital projects (expansion, modernisation and new facilities), as well as identify the need for new projects. For this position, you should have:
• Qualifications in Process Engineering or closely-related subject.
• 10+ Years’ experience in a related manufacturing environment.
• 5+ Years’ experience with Delta-V systems.
• Experience and competency managing complex capital investment projects, with spends of up to €5M.
• Demonstrable experience developing and implementing controls strategy and deploying process automation across multiple sites and processes.
• Strong communication skills, as well as the ability to present to, and influence from operator level to senior managers both internally and externally.
• Controls configuration and programming experience is desirable.
