Project Engineer (Apprentice)
Definition
Under the general direction of the given company authority, the Project Engineer will provide effective leadership in promoting and articulating the mission of the company. The Project Engineer is responsible for assisting the Project Manager(s) as directed in the description below
Examples of duties (not limited to)
1. Receiving the project from estimating and or the Project Manager.
2. Study the project for possible additional information needed from architect, EOR or contractor.
3. Preparing submittals for the project as directed.
4. If directed, entering or adjusting data entry for optimization of materials.
5. Ordering materials and producing documents as directed
6. Attending field meeting along with Project Manager with contractor/owner as required.
7. Interface with Project Manager(s) directing obligations as needed.
8. Interface with administration personal as needed.
9. Planning for mobilization, Scheduling field operations, coordinate shop operations as far as material receiving, job fabrication progress and scheduling of workflow.
10. Schedule outside services and directed by Project Manager(s).
11. Track, analyze, audit change orders, RFPs, RFIs and pay requests for all assigned projects.
12. Verify inventory for projects built from floor stock.
13. Ordering all fasteners, clips and parts both standard and custom.
14. Review and post as received project schedules
15. Attend weekly company meeting as needed or required.
16. Take courses as needed or required to qualify for special requirements and or to educate yourself with company workings.
17. Other items that might be added from time to time by company authority.
18. Communication is key to this position therefore you are to be available to text, email and phone during daylight hours.
Qualifications
1. Experience in this or similar capacity positions
2. Proficiency with software Excel, Word, Outlook
3. Possession of an Arizona driver’s license
4. Willingness to educate yourself to advance in your work.
5. Able to learn new software quickly
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Organizational practices related to the analysis and evaluation of projects, project programs, polices and operational needs.
Budget preparation and control.
Principles and practices of administration and supervision.
Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to:
Learn reading plans and comprehend scope of projects assigned.
Analyze problems and offer alternative solutions.
Operate a computer and Tablet and assigned software and office equipment.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Work independently and meet schedules and timelines.
Prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
