Geotechnical Technician - Nashville, TN
TTL, Inc. has a need for a geotechnical technician in Nashville, TN. This full-time position provides technical field support for geotechnical engineering projects for both private and public sectors. This person must have a good safety record and be able to communicate effectively with other team members and clients.
Primary responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
- Collecting soil samples
- Preparing field boring logs
- Conduct field testing on collected soil samples and record pertinent drilling information
- Locate and stake boring locations at various sites
- Notify utility locators of proposed drilling locations
- Conduct field electrical earth resistivity testing
- Ensure general safety of drilling crew
- Participate in safety meetings
- Data entry of field boring log information to prepare final boring logs
- Assist engineering staff with various technical tasks related to meeting project objectives
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record
- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment
- Must be able to work in all types of weather and field conditions
- Must be able to work outside typical daily 8 am to 5 pm hours
- Must be able to travel for extended periods of time
- Must have basic computer skills for time, expense and field data entry
- Must be able to communicate effectively with fellow employees and drillers
- Must be able to read plans and maps
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds
- Knowledge of geology a plus
