Human Resources Manager at American Geosciences Institute
AGI is seeking a Geoscience Editor/Indexer who will be responsible for the development of standard bibliographic information for source documents, classifying geoscience publications into geoscience subdisciplines, assigning appropriate subject terminology for main concepts using GeoRef Thesaurus, and working on special projects. If you’re passionate about Geosciences and have a Geology or related Bachelor’s Degree, we encourage you to apply today!
Determine bibliographic information for source documents
Edit bibliographic metadata supplied by direct input or publisher/partner exchange according to GeoRef standards
Classify geoscience publications according to 42 Fields of Interest/Category Codes
Assign appropriate index terms from the GeoRef Thesaurus and appropriate sources to indicate main concepts contained within source documents
Identify and assign geographic coordinates for content locations
Assign codes for special publications
Translate titles of original materials into English
Other Duties: As assigned
Work Environment & Physical Demands:Ability to focus in either an open or isolated work environment
Required Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or closely-related discipline
Successful completion of Editor/Indexer six-month training period demonstrating continuous improvement in application of GeoRef term selection and Field of Interest Application
Knowledge of a foreign
Ability to average an acceptable level of productivity based on types of publications and experience (Range from 3 to 5 items per hour)
Education & Experience:
Proficiency in searching at least one version of GeoRef
