Mechanical Generator Engineer
A leading UK provider of power and critical energy solutions is seeking an experienced Mechanical Generator Engineer to join its growing team. With over 40 years of industry expertise in standby power, diesel generators, and energy support services, this is an excellent opportunity to join a stable, reputable organisation known for its high engineering standards and commitment to continuous development.
Working as part of the field engineering team, the Mechanical Generator Engineer will be responsible for service, maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of diesel generators across customer sites in the South of England. You will play a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, delivering high-quality customer service, and supporting ongoing operational performance across a wide range of critical power installations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine service, maintenance, and repair of diesel generators up to multi-megawatt capacity
Conduct mechanical diagnostics, fault finding, and component replacement
Support engine rebuilds, fuel system work, cooling system repairs, and general mechanical overhauls
Complete service reports, job documentation, and ensure compliance with company procedures
Work independently on customer sites while maintaining a high level of professionalism and safety
Provide occasional support on installation, commissioning, or load bank testing as required
Liaise with the wider engineering and operations team to ensure efficient job completion and customer satisfactionEssential Requirements
Proven mechanical engineering experience within the generator, diesel engine, or related heavy-engine sector
Strong knowledge of generator engine systems including fuel, cooling, lubrication, and mechanical components
Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and complete repairs to a high standard
Full UK driving licence
Flexibility to travel across the South of EnglandWhat’s on Offer
£41,000 per annum
