With multiple offices, more than 300 employees, and 7 divisions – Asphalt and Concrete, Waterproofing and Specialty Coatings, Roofing, Snow Removal and Parking Lot Sweeping, Landscaping, and Construction, DCPS provides specialized, integrated service-solutions to commercial property owners and managers.
Position Summary
The General Manager – Market Operations is responsible for launching and leading a new DCPS market office, overseeing day-to-day operations, and driving business growth. This role ensures alignment with DCPS’s strategy, financial objectives, and client service standards. The General Manager will build and manage a high-performing team across preconstruction, operations, and administration while maintaining accountability for quality, safety, and profitability.
This position reports directly to the Executive Leadership Team and will receive direct mentorship from the Vice President of Preconstruction during the first six months.
Essential Functions
The General Manager is responsible for building and leading a high-performing office in their assigned market. This includes:

Duties & ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Market Development

Establish and manage DCPS’s new market office, including staffing, systems adoption, and client engagement.

Recruit, mentor, and develop a local leadership team across preconstruction, operations, and administration.

Serve as the face of DCPS in the local market with clients, trade partners, and community stakeholders.

Translate strategy and goals into actionable local execution plans.
Operational Oversight

Ensure projects meet DCPS standards for quality, safety, schedule, and profitability.

Enforce company SOPs, financial controls, and reporting requirements.

Coordinate with Preconstruction, Business Development, and Operations to ensure seamless project lifecycles.

Track and report KPIs including backlog, margins, client satisfaction, and team utilization.
Financial Management

Own full P&L responsibility for the assigned market office.

Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting in coordination with Executive Leadership.

Protect margins through disciplined project selection, efficient operations, and cost control.
Business Development Support

Partner with Business Development to identify and pursue strategic market opportunities.

Support preconstruction by aligning pursuits with client needs and company capabilities.

Build long-term relationships with clients, design teams, and subcontractor networks to expand market presence.
Special Projects & Growth

Champion continuous improvement and innovation in local operations.

Execute special initiatives from Executive Leadership (e.g., process rollouts, system pilots, strategic studies).

Provide market intelligence and feedback to inform strategy.
Qualifications

10+ years of experience in commercial construction, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Operations Director, Preconstruction Director, Division Manager).

Proven experience launching or managing a business unit/market with full P&L responsibility.

Strong expertise in construction operations, estimating, and business development.

Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a track record of building high-performing teams.

Financially savvy and data-driven in decision-making.

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or related field ().

Experience in insurance restoration, capital improvements, or multi-family/commercial construction highly desirable.

Local contractor license required.

Willingness to travel during office ramp-up and to support multi-market initiatives.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $180,000-$220,000 annually
