Job Description

SUMMARY

Provide engineering support for Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. gas turbine (GT) upgrades and configuration control within the service fleet. Responsibilities include interpreting design documents, preparing work instructions, and enabling installation of parts during outages. The Gas Turbine Application Engineer – II is an intermediate role requiring knowledge of engineering principles, capable of handling routine tasks with limited supervision, and making sound safety and reliability recommendations. The role involves leadership and direct interaction with customers, vendors, and internal engineering groups.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Define and control configuration documentation and work instructions for installing Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. parts and upgrades.

Lead the preparation of technical proposals for upgrades, highlighting benefits such as performance improvements, extended intervals, and longer component life.

Evaluate customer GT upgrade applications considering configuration, history, and operational requirements, determining feasibility and necessary modifications.

Define scope of work, prepare work packages, and support cost estimation for upgrades.

Innovate packaging of upgrades to meet customer needs, improve delivery speed, quality, and performance.

Support sales with technical presentations and customer inquiries.

Prepare Bill of Materials, CAD drawings, and work procedures; support sourcing activities.

Lead technical preparations for outages, support field personnel, and address deviations during implementation.

Participate in GT user group meetings to promote upgrades and gather product development feedback.

Conduct benchmarking studies to identify upgrade opportunities, costs, and benefits.

Mentor less experienced engineers.

Support ISO 9001 audits, enhance documentation, and ensure product compliance.

Perform other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

Must perform duties satisfactorily. Requirements include:

MS () or BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; coursework related to turbo-machinery; minimum 3 years relevant experience.

Ability to interpret technical documents, write reports, and present information effectively.

Proficiency in mathematical calculations.

Judgment based on technical specifications.

Experience with 3-D modeling software (CREO or SolidWorks) and Microsoft Office.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

Regularly stand, walk, and communicate; lift up to 25 pounds; exposed to mechanical parts and loud noise. Some travel required (5-15%), some trips may last two or more weeks.
