Job Description

Title: Garden Maintenance Operative - South West London\n\nReporting to: Maintenance Team Leader\n\nHours: 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday (with overtime/weekend work available.)\n\nOur client seeks a Maintenance Operative to participate in the day to day maintenance of designated gardens and is directed by the Team Leader. Responsibilities include carrying out various garden tasks as requested, care of equipment and tools, and following instructions as required. Responsibilities also include:\n\n * Ensure that the appearance of our client’s gardens meet or exceed expectations and that our goals of excellent client service are always achieved.\n\n * Communicate regularly with the Maintenance Team Leader regarding day-to-day maintenance operations including reporting any unusual conditions.\n\n * Carry out maintenance tasks as requested in the most efficient and timely manner.\n\n * Comply with all policies and health and safety procedures as appropriate and encourage others to follow them.\n\n * Care for assigned equipment and notify the Maintenance Team Leader of any required repairs.\n\n * Maintain effective employee, client and public relations.\n\n * Log own timesheets/hours and absenteeism on relevant employee online portals.\n\n * Any other duties assigned by the Maintenance Team Leader.\n\nRequirements & Qualifications\n\nMinimum of one year experience in residential garden maintenance/soft landscaping, or a combination of transferable skills, love of working outdoors and keenness to learn & progress.\n\nA basic knowledge of:\n\n * Methods, materials, tools and equipment used in garden maintenance operations.\n\n * Standard horticultural practices (planting, pruning, fertilising, etc.)\n\n * Growth characteristics and identification of a wide variety of plants\n\n * Basic first aid certificate or greater\n\n * Desirable: horticultural qualifications\n\n * Desirable: PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates.\n\n * Desirable: Drivers Licence.\n\n * Physical aptitude to working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.
