Full Stack Software Engineer (AI Infrastructure) – TS/SCI w/ Poly

Location: Columbia, MD
Compensation Range: $170,000 – $210,000 (annualized USD)
Clearance Required: Must be a U.S. with an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph


Description

We are seeking a Full Stack Software Engineer (AI Infrastructure) to help build the next of AI infrastructure powering advanced analytics and AI-enabled applications. In this role, you will support the AI infrastructure team by designing, implementing, and maintaining scalable platform components, with a strong focus on AI model inference services.

This position is ideal for experienced engineers who can independently design, implement, and operate production-grade AI infrastructure components. You will contribute to a rapidly evolving ecosystem that supports retrieval-augmented (RAG), autonomous agents, and other emerging AI technologies.


Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize infrastructure for AI model inference at scale

  • Develop and maintain production AI services and applications

  • Navigate ambiguity and define solutions for evolving systems and requirements

  • Drive adoption of new technologies and engineering best practices

  • Implement monitoring, logging, and observability solutions for AI services

  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles

  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and performance of AI platform components

  • Contribute to security best practices for AI systems and data

  • Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to junior engineers


Skills Requirements

  • Proven experience building and maintaining production systems at scale

  • Experience with high-volume web application architecture and performance optimization

  • Strong background in systems integration across diverse technologies and platforms

  • Hands-on cloud engineering experience in AWS

  • Proficiency with Kubernetes administration and deployment patterns

  • Strong Python programming skills

  • Experience implementing observability solutions (e.g., APM, OpenTelemetry, Grafana, Prometheus)

  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

  • Strong organizational influence and change management skills

  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and create structure where needed

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills


Nice to Haves

  • Experience with AI inference serving technologies (e.g., vLLM, LiteLLM)

  • Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangChain

  • Knowledge of vector databases and embedding systems

  • Experience with high-performance computing or distributed systems


Education Experience Requirement

8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline

OR

4 additional years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree


Compensation Employment Policy

Salary is determined by multiple factors, including location, education, experience, skills, and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $170,000 – $210,000 (annualized USD).
