We specialise in placing Environmental Health Officers in public sector organisations, offering flexible contracts and competitive rates.\n\nRole Overview\n\nWe are seeking a qualified Food Safety Officer to join a local authority in London on a full-time hybrid contract. This role involves managing food safety and health & safety enforcement casework, with flexibility across remote and on-site work.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Lead inspections of food establishments in accordance with Cluster 4 competencies.\n\n * Manage a full range of food safety and health & safety enforcement casework.\n\n * Ensure compliance with the Food Safety Act and Health and Safety at Work Act.\n\n * Handle complex correspondence and documentation efficiently.\n\n * Meet deadlines and align work with Council objectives.\n\n * Attend site visits and office meetings as required.\n\n * Maintain accurate records and reports of inspections and enforcement actions.\n\nRequirements\n\nQualifications / Skills & Experience\n\n * Demonstrated competency for food establishment inspections (Cluster 4).\n\n * Minimum of 10 hours of Food Core CPD aligned with the Food Law Code of Practice.\n\n * Strong knowledge of food safety and health & safety legislation.\n\n * Excellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\n * Ability to work independently and manage a varied caseload.\n\nEssential\n\n * Environmental Health qualification.\n\n * Experience in food safety enforcement within a local authority setting.\n\nDesirable\n\n * Previous hybrid working experience.\n\n * Familiarity with council procedures and reporting systems.\n\nAdditional Information\n\n * Contract Duration: 9–12 months\n\n * Start Date: December 2025\n\n * Hours: 37 hours per week\n\n * Pay Rate: £40–£45 per hour\n\n * Location: London
