Florida Forensic Structural Engineer

Role Description

\n

The Forensic Structural Engineer will perform structural assessments, failure analyses, and forensic investigations of buildings and infrastructure, with a focus on identifying causes of damage and developing remediation recommendations.

\n

\n

Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting site inspections, reviewing design documents and construction records, performing structural analysis and calculations, and preparing clear technical reports and expert findings.

\n

\n

The role involves collaborating with project managers, other engineers, and legal and insurance stakeholders to support claims, dispute resolution, and repair strategies.

\n

\n

This is a primarily remote contract position located in Orlando, FL, requiring regular travel to project sites and close coordination with the Orlando-based team.

Qualifications

\n

\n
• Candidates should possess strong skills in Structural Engineering and Civil Engineering, with a solid understanding of building codes, materials, and construction practices.

\n

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Structural Analysis and Calculations, including the ability to evaluate load paths, member capacities, and overall structural performance.

\n

• Candidates should possess strong skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools to develop, review, and revise structural drawings and details.

\n

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

\n

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in Florida, or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe; multi-state licensure is a plus.

\n

• Experience in forensic engineering, structural inspections, or construction defect investigations is strongly .

\n

• Ability to write clear, defensible technical reports and communicate complex findings to technical and non-technical audiences.

\n

• Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capacity to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

\n

• Willingness to perform field work, including site visits, condition assessments, and documentation of structural damage.

\n
