A well-established, multi-disciplinary engineering and environmental consultancy with a strong presence in Cardiff is seeking a motivated Flood Risk Consultant to join its team. The firm has long supported clients across the UK with civil and structural engineering, environmental design, and sustainable drainage solutions. Known for delivering practical, high-quality and innovative outcomes, the consultancy works on projects ranging from small developments to large-scale infrastructure and resilience-focused schemes.
The Role
The Flood Risk Consultant will support the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments (FRAs), surface water drainage strategies, hydraulic modelling tasks, and technical reporting. Working within a collaborative team of engineers and environmental specialists, the role offers hands-on involvement across a wide variety of projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Preparing and reviewing Flood Risk Assessments and surface water drainage strategies
Assisting with hydraulic modelling and drainage design (training provided as needed)
Analysing hydrological data, producing mapping, and writing technical reports
Liaising with clients, local authorities, and statutory consultees
Supporting sustainable, climate-resilient water management solutions
Contributing to flood risk and drainage input within wider engineering and planning projectsPerson Specification:
1–3 years’ experience in flood risk, water engineering, drainage, or a related area
Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, or similar discipline
Understanding of flood risk policy, planning guidance, and SuDS principles
Experience with GIS software (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) desirable
Strong written, analytical and communication skills
Proactive, organised, and keen to grow in a supportive, multi-disciplinary environmentWhat’s on Offer:
