BASIC FUNCTION
Under general direction of the Flood Control Director, assists in organizing, monitoring, and supervising the flood control groundskeeping, landscaping, and operations within the Flood Control District; performs a variety of technical tasks relative to levee and flood management.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- *Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for landscaping, groundskeeping, and event space preparation. In addition to drainage structures, flood wall maintenance, earthen levee maintenance, sandbag closures, and movable closures as needed by the Director.
- *Establish schedules and methods for providing district landscaping, and maintenance services; identify resource needs; review needs with appropriate management staff; allocate resources accordingly.
- *Monitors complaints and identifies ordinance violations.
- *Oversees and coordinates time off requests.
- *Participate in the implementation of approved policies and procedures; monitor work activities to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
- *Provide or coordinate staff training.
- *Monitor and control supplies and equipment; submit order requests for supplies and tools as necessary; prepare documents for equipment procurement.
- *Answer questions and provide information to the public.
- *Perform the most technical and complex tasks of the work unit.
- *Maintain records concerning operations and programs; prepare reports on operations and activities, as requested.
- Conduct daily trail inspections and condition assessments
- Implement trail closure protocols during unsafe conditions
- Maintain detailed log of trail conditions and maintenance
- Perform other duties as assigned.

working environment and conditions
- This position requires working in both an internal and external environment.
- Significant amount of time will be spent working outdoors and in inclimate weather (within reason and safety) to include: hot, humid, cold, rain, ice and snow.
- This position requires a flexible work schedule; night and/or weekends may be required.
EDUCATION, Experience and TRAINING
- Graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalent required.
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form.
- A pleasant, friendly, and outgoing demeanor.
- Willingness to take on additional tasks as assigned.
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
- Familiar with basic OSHA stands and safety practices.
