Location: South Carolina (Charleston / Savannah / Greer region)

We are a well-established trucking company specializing in intermodal container freight and limited 53’ van freight. Operating from the ports of Charleston, SC, Savannah, GA, and the inland rail port at Greer, SC, we cover the southeastern United States with a fleet of 170 trucks, 225 intermodal chassis, and a training fleet of 25 dry vans. We operate 24/7 and pride ourselves on safety, reliability, and efficiency.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to oversee the maintenance, compliance, and operational readiness of our fleet. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring all trucks, chassis, and trailers are properly serviced, compliant with FMCSA regulations, and available for use. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate with leasing and maintenance vendors while keeping our drivers equipped and on the road.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee the scheduling and completion of all preventive and corrective maintenance for tractors, trailers, and chassis through leasing and service providers (Penske, Ryder, Star Leasing, etc.).
· Track equipment status in real time: in-service, down, in-progress repairs, and ETAs for return to service.
· Coordinate breakdowns, tire service, and roadside repairs with vendors (Snider Tire, Michelin, Yokohama).
· Manage equipment assignments, including temporary driver reassignments when units are down, and ensure drivers return to their regular units after repairs.
· Maintain all FMCSA-required records, including annual inspections, DVIRs, registrations, and IFTA decals.
· Administer and troubleshoot electronic logging device (ELD) systems, including installation and maintenance.
· Collaborate with leasing partners on fleet turnover, lease negotiations, and equipment recommendations.
· Provide 24/7 oversight of the fleet with support from an assistant and night manager, ensuring coverage for all maintenance issues.
Qualifications
· 5+ years of fleet management or transportation maintenance coordination experience (intermodal experience a plus).
· Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations, safety compliance, and recordkeeping requirements.
· Experience working with leasing companies and maintenance vendors.
· Proficiency with ELD systems, fleet tracking tools, and maintenance software.
· Experience with Fleetworthy, RyderGyde, and Penske Fleet Insight systems (or similar platforms) strongly .
· Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
· Strong leadership skills with experience managing staff or assistants.
