Firmware Design Engineer in MK18

Copello are working with a Defence client who is looking for a Firmware Design Engineer to join their firmware team. The team is responsible for the development and maintenance of the firmware used in its anti-jam avionics products. The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of digital logic and firmware design development but also a healthy interest in digital and analogue electronics (especially RF) as well as software.\n\nYou will work within a small team of firmware experts and you will be supervised to design enhancements which you will implement, test and document in our structured process-driven environment.

Although the primary role is firmware development you may also get the opportunity to develop software or use Matlab to simulate DSP algorithms or analyse data.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\n * Design, develop, and test high-quality firmware on time, and within budget\n\n * Produce documentation required to support the firmware\n\n * Assist in estimating, planning and progress reporting\n\n * Provide support to the project and systems teams\n\n * Collaborate with discipline peers within the team and other project team members to analyse and address project requirements\n\n * Apply and comply with engineering processes and practices\n\nQualifications and Experience required:\n\n * Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Communications, or related engineering discipline\n\n * Proficient in design, coding, debugging, and testing of digital systems\n\n * Proficient in digital implementation using VHDL \n\n * Proficient in writing VHDL testbenches to verify the firmware using Modelsim.\n\n * Ability to write optimised, efficient code.\n\n * Ability to use version control systems e.g. GIT\n\n * Understanding of configuration management
