Working Title: Fire Protection Design Engineer – Alarm and Detection Systems
- Provide design engineering staff augmentation support. Primary responsibilities include engineering task analysis, walk-downs, design development and of design output documents including but not limited to: Location
Plans, Connection Diagrams, Conduit / Block Diagrams, Logic Diagrams, Panel
Detail Drawings, Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams, and Battery Loading Calculations in accordance with consensus codes and standards. Provide technical support to site construction forces, start-up & testing, suppliers or subcontract personnel. Prepare Data Sheets, Statements of Work, Procurement Specifications, Design Build Specifications, and Purchase Requisitions.
Additional Education
- Graduate of an ABET accredited Fire Protection Engineering program. OR
- BS degree in an engineering discipline and at least one of the following:
- Registered Professional Engineer in Fire Protection.
- Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) NICET Level III/IV certification in the Fire Alarm, Detection and Signaling area of expertise
- Professional or Fellow Member in the SFPE
- The following qualifications are required for this position:
- Candidate must demonstrate ten (10) years of recent design experience, four (4) of which shall be in the following area of expertise: Fire Alarm, Detection and Signaling Design - General knowledge of electrical/control systems, connection diagrams, layout plans, logic diagrams, panel layout details, P&ID's, and battery loading calculations
- Working knowledge of NFPA Codes and Standards, and Consensus
Codes and Standards such as NFPA 13, NFPA 70, NFPA 72, NFPA 90A, NFPA
101, IBC, and various other ISA and IEEE standards
- Experience with 2D MicroStation Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD)
Ability to operate Windows Microsoft Office Applications -
