Our client is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Fire Engineer to join a growing consultancy team within the transportation sector. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in delivering innovative, safe, and sustainable solutions on a major rail infrastructure programme. Remote working is available for the right candidate.



About the Role

You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of experts to provide assurance and technical leadership across a wide range of fire safety systems and strategy designs within the rail environment. This role involves working collaboratively with other contractors and Network Rail, ensuring compliance, safety, and excellence throughout every phase of the project lifecycle.



Core Responsibilities



* Coordinate works with contractors and Network Rail to ensure alignment and delivery.



* Liaise with discipline-specific route engineers to integrate fire safety considerations.



* Lead the design, installation, and commissioning of fire detection and protection systems.



* Provide expert knowledge of fire safety codes and standards, including LPC and BAFE-certified frameworks.



* Review and develop prescriptive fire strategies and engineering solutions.



* Conduct design assurance for fire systems and commissioning (excluding performance-based designs or smoke control for managed stations).



* Evaluate and provide assurance on fire strategies, particularly for managed stations or projects using risk analysis or performance-based methods.



* Participate in engineering assurance activities to ensure cost-effective, safe, and compliant designs that meet programme targets.



* Apply risk identification and assessment methods such as HAZOP and QRA to support informed decision-making.



* Oversee or collaborate on the development and approval of method statements for surveys and site activities.



Requirements & Qualifications



* Proven experience in the design, review, and commissioning of fire safety systems within rail or complex infrastructure environments.



* Strong knowledge and practical application of relevant fire safety standards, including BS 9992 and BS 9999.



* Accredited degree in Fire Engineering or a related discipline.



* Membership of a relevant professional body such as CIBSE or IET.



* Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (MIFireE).



* Chartered Fire Engineer status (CEng) with the Institution of Fire Engineers.
