Field Technician – Security Systems

This position includes a company vehicle, all necessary tools and equipment, and uniforms. Field Technicians are expected to maintain a professional appearance at all times when representing Strong Systems on job sites. This includes wearing company-provided attire and maintaining a professional image.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation & Configuration:

  • Install, configure, and maintain integrated systems such as:

    • Video Surveillance

    • Access Control

    • Intrusion & Burglar Alarms

    • Fire Alarm & CO2 Detection

    • Temperature Monitoring Devices

    • Structured Cabling

    • IP-based cameras, DVR/NVRs, routers, switches, and intercoms

    • Ensure installations meet specifications, function properly, and comply with NFPA, NEC, and BICSI standards.

Testing & Troubleshooting:

  • Conduct full system tests and verify functionality.

  • Diagnose and repair faults using test equipment and software tools.

  • Read and interpret error logs, schematics, and technical diagrams.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Strong field technician check-out guidelines (i.e., providing photos and visit details to the Service Manager).

  • Ensure adherence to OSHA regulations, local codes, and manufacturer specifications.

  • Follow safety protocols and client-specific guidelines.

Customer Support:

  • Explain system functions clearly to clients.

  • Provide support during emergencies and outages.

  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Collaboration & Travel:

  • Work closely with Service Managers, engineering staff, logistics, and other support teams to ensure company and client timelines and expectations are met.

  • Travel to job sites primarily within the Metro Atlanta area (100% field-based role). Occasional travel outside of Metro Atlanta will be required.


Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of field experience installing and servicing low-voltage or security systems.

  • Solid understanding of AC/DC circuits and power systems.

  • Proficiency with tools such as multimeters, punch-down tools, and cable testers.

  • Knowledge of computer networking and IP-based systems.

  • Experience with structured cabling and termination practices.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.

  • Comfortable with physical work, including ladders, lifts, and lifting 50+ lbs.


Qualifications:

  • Experience with: Napco, Fire-Lite, high-res/low-light cameras, VMS systems.

  • Certifications in electronic security, low-voltage systems, or related fields.

  • Technical degree or formal training in IT, electronics, or security.

  • Knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, BICSI, and ANSI/TIA standards.

  • Manufacturer certifications are a plus.
