About the Role:

The Field Supervisor is responsible for supervising Residential Service Technicians who perform maintenance, installation, and repair of plumbing and septic systems, utilizing plumbing knowledge. Will also perform the role of Residential Service Technician as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for training and developing Residential Service Technicians.
    • Supports Residential Service Technicians by providing technical advice and offering guidance.
    • Ensures the quality of work by reviewing technicians’ work.
    • Assists in scheduling, organizing, and dispatching Residential Service Technicians.
    • Represents company by serving as a direct customer contact.
    • Serves customers by serving as a resource in answering inquiries and responding to special requests.
    • Maintains supplies by conducting equipment inventories.
    • Maintains equipment by inspecting for signs of wear, scheduling and completing preventive maintenance work.
    • Maintains vehicles by keeping record of service manuals, scheduling and completing repair and maintenance services.
    • Works with various Service Department employees to prepare for on-site installations and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work as necessary.
    • Supports process compliance by monitoring completed paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
    • Consolidates reference information by collecting, organizing and assembling data for reports, presentations, and/or special projects.
    • Identifies, analyzes, and repairs equipment at customers’ locations.
    • Reads blueprints or engineering specifications.
    • Uses a variety of hand tools, power tools and computer software.
    • Evaluates area safety needs/requirements to provide feedback and recommendations to service technicians, and assists in the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and training.

   Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Directly supervises Residential Service Technicians in the service process.
  • Makes recommendations for hiring/terminating staff to the General Manager.
  • Assists with interviewing and training employees
  • Plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performances; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints, coaches and mentors’ employees; and resolves problems.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

Qualifications

  • To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required of a Residential Service Technician — Supervisor.
  • A current Journeyman or Master Plumbing License. Excellent working knowledge of plumbing issues related to residential plumbing and septic systems. 
  • 5+ years of plumbing experience
  • Meet all company employee policy requirements.
  • Computer skills including familiarity with excel, word and the ability to use computer systems as required for data reporting, email, scheduling, etc.
  • Management skills sufficient to oversee several jobs at one time while managing employees.
