Senior Field Services Technician, 25% partially remote

Field Services Technician – Communications Systems

This role combines remote work with on-site client support (75% going to client sites in the local area, 25% work from home).

We are seeking a skilled Field Services Technician to support the installation, configuration, maintenance, and servicing of communications systems, servers, workstations, and related electronic equipment. This role combines remote work with on-site client support.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and resolve operational issues in coordination with the Network Operations Center, escalating as necessary.

  • Provide on-call coverage during evenings and weekends.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance, including inspections, cleaning, and repairs of workstations, servers, and communications equipment.

  • Support deployment, relocation, and upgrades of PSAP sites within the Next Gen 911 system.

  • Coordinate with subcontractors and participate in construction meetings with contractors and customer representatives.

  • Prepare Statements of Work and cost estimates for deployment and move activities.

  • Lead on-site technical efforts and oversee subcontractor personnel during installations.

  • Install, configure, and test electronic equipment (e.g., routers/switches, managed PDUs, Windows workstations, IP telephones, IP-to-serial converters) following established procedures.

  • Provide accurate and timely project updates to management and customers.

  • Track work and preventive maintenance activities in the web-based ticketing system.

  • Manage inventory and maintain spare equipment stock.

  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a technical field (networking, IT, or related discipline), or equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience.

  • 3–5 years of experience installing, configuring, and testing IP networking systems.

  • Knowledge of Windows, Linux, server virtualization, and Cisco routing/switching .
