Job Title: Field Service Mechanical Technician
Job Summary:
The Field Service Mechanical Technician’s primary function is to travel to customers’ locations to perform on-site installations, servicing, and repairs for commissioning or warranty work on customer-finished products. Anticipated travel is 50-75% of the time, by car and/or plane.
When not traveling, this role will work on the production floor to build and assemble parts, pipe fitting, and enclosures. Handle, move, load, and unload material, mostly heavy metal, by hand or using a variety of material handling equipment, including forklifts and overhead cranes in a high trafficking manufacturing environment.
This role reports to the Field Services Site Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and product specifications, and understand tolerances to determine assembly operations.
- Rig, hoist, move, and align sub-assemblies and components to storage areas or within the worksite using overhead cranes and forklifts, using established safety precautions.
- Fit and assemble simple and complex parts to build heavy industrial machinery and equipment according to drawings and product specifications.
- Install major components such as tanks, louvers, dampers, large-scale frames, generators, insulation, soundproofing systems, and building panels using hand and power tools.
- Inspect, test, examine, and investigate parts, sub-assemblies, and finished products to ensure quality and detect irregularities and malfunctions.
- Assist with documentation control and following company policies.
- Handle, move, load, and unload products and materials by hand or using material handling equipment, including forklifts, overhead cranes, and tow motors, operating established safety precautions. (Material handling)
- Provide feedback on design improvements through communication with the Supervisor and assist in preparing Engineering Change Requests.
- Ensure standards for safe working conditions are observed following OSHA, and participate in regular safety talks. Perform a visual inspection of equipment, including cranes, forklifts, cutters, and other tools, to ensure they are in safe working condition.
- Mentor and assist junior production members and other employees.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum 3-5 years experience in a heavy industrial equipment environment and mechanical assembly.
- Certificate in Crane and Forklift Operation.
- Previous experience working within an ISO9001 environment is .
- Should be able to lift between 50-75lbs.
Additional Requirements:
- Demonstrate knowledge and an understanding of OSHA.
