About this Opportunity

BMG has an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Technician. The Field Service Technician is responsible for the start-up, debug, installation, troubleshoot, repair and training on all equipment in the customer’s plant and at the manufacturing site when required. We provide cross training on all our product lines to create the skills and flexibility required to service our customers.

We are looking for someone who can work onsite at our Beaverton, MI location but will consider a remote location for the ideal candidate who has 3 years or more experience including installation, set-up, maintenance, trouble shooting, and repair of thermoforming capital equipment.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A minimum of an associate degree, 2 year trade school certification, or equivalent experience.
  2. A minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing environment, machine maintenance or machine building .
  3. Industrial Controls background and experience in troubleshooting and understanding robotics programming .
  4. Able to understand and edit industrial controls including the installation and programming of PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and Servo Systems.
  5. Must possess or able to secure a valid passport and other documents required for travel and have and maintain a current driver’s license with no restrictions.
  6. Willingness to travel frequently, at least 75% of time.
  7. A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States on a permanent basis. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Accomplishes or assists in the installation and start-up of equipment at customer plants as assigned.
  2. Performs preventative maintenance on machines at customer plants as assigned.
  3. Performs training on machines at customer plants as assigned.
  4. Repairs or adjusts machines at customer plant as assigned. Checks repair work or adjustments by observing machines in operation.
  5. Assists other BMG employees in activities at customer plants as required in conjunction with service calls.
  6. Suggests modifications or changes in existing equipment on the basis of observations made in the course of performing service work.
  7. Reviews all spare parts on hand at customer plants and advises customer what spare parts are needed to bring the parts inventory up to prescribed levels.
  8. May perform repair, adjustment, and/or assembly work on experimental machines located at the manufacturing facility as assigned.
  9. Prepares service and expense reports and field change service notices for all service calls made.
  10. Informs engineering and sales personnel of any known issues or opportunities discovered while on site.
  11. Publicizes and promotes the sale of BMG products whenever the opportunity for such activity occurs.

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift, push, and pull up 35 to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Walk for extended periods of time.
  • May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.
  • Must be able to access and navigate within each department at the organization’s facilities (i.e. climb stairs, ladders, etc.)
