About the Role:

The Field Service Technician plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of manufacturing equipment at client sites in the HPDC high pressure die casting industry. This position involves assembling, unloading, installing, diagnosing, troubleshooting, cleaning, repairing, and/or maintaining machinery, including electrical components, to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency. Your time is divided, either onsite in Auburn Hills, MI or offsite at customer plants when service or installation is required. HERCO's business hours are 7:30am-4:30pm onsite; vary when offsite at plants with possible weekends when a project installation is required. Full job description available upon request.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school/GED, trade or vocation school diploma; technical certifications or associate degree in electronics, electrical engineering, or related field .
  • Experience of 3+ years installing, building, troubleshooting and/or repairing machinery ideally in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
  • Proficient with power tools, hydraulics, pneumatics, air filtration, strong problem-solving, excellent mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards relevant to manufacturing environments.
  • Able to lift 70lbs. Offsite facility environment can be hot and loud. PPE furnished by HERCO. HERCO will certify you in OSHA 10, 30, FANUC, Rigging, Fall-Protection, etc.
  • Steel-toed footwear required during onsite interview.
  • Valid driver’s license with 2-year clean record, no restrictions into Canada and valid passport.
  • Ability to travel (overnight) to client sites as required. Client locations can be in/outside of Michigan, mostly in the Eastern Standard Time zone. Company vehicle provided.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree, apprenticeship, journeyman, or master electrician certifications.
  • Experience as an HVAC technician, millwright, ironworker, or with capital equipment.
  • Solid team player with strong written and verbal experience.
  • Positive attitude, can-do performer and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform off-site installation or service of capital equipment.
  • Work on- or off-site troubleshooting, cleaning, repairing, building/assembling electrical, mechanical, and hardware systems of machine equipment used in manufacturing environments.
  • Utilize test equipment to diagnose faults and verify repairs, ensuring all systems meet manufacturer and safety specifications.
  • Document all service activities, including diagnostics, repairs, and parts used, maintaining accurate records for compliance and future reference via MS Office Suite or SAP.
