Trystar’s team members are our most important asset, and this position plays a critical role in achieving our strategic objectives. As a Field Service Technician, you will travel to customer sites and perform commissioning, maintenance, electrical troubleshooting and repair services for Trystar electrical power products. Supporting the Customer Technical Assistance Center, you will be responsible for boots on the ground field service support, carrying the necessary tools and equipment. Travel availability and flexibility is essential to the role, primarily domestic with occasional internal travel. You will have the opportunity to support all product lines that Trystar offers and grow your knowledge as our product offerings expand. In this role you will get to:
- Work directly with customers and installers in the field, and provide various field service activities for Trystar’s offerings from planned maintenance, equipment upgrades, electrical troubleshooting, and repair
- Utilize Trystar specifications, drawings, certified electrical standards, work instructions, procedures and customer orders to ensure product matches requirements.
- Responsible for testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeter, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes; to ensure compatibility and safety of the system
- Responsible for adhering to all safety regulations and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Keep detailed records to ensure adequate service job documentation and inventory of necessary supplies and parts
- Testing of products to ensure adherence to manufacturer and customer requirements.
- When not travelling, support returned material evaluation and equipment troubleshooting, team and process support
- Respond to and support dynamic service requests, occasionally with limited notice
- Maintain expert level of product knowledge and applications
- Maintain and transport a toolkit sufficient for the majority of field service tasks
- Respond to and update customer inquiries via a case management system
- Feedback observations, customer concerns, and common issues encountered
- 50% to 70% travel required, domestic and occasional international
Job Requirements:
Basic Qualifications
- Technical Associate’s degree (Electronics/Electrical ) with electrical and electronic troubleshooting skills
- Working electrical knowledge, capable of applying Ohm’s Law and Watt’s Law in real-time
- Electrical aptitude to perform real-time troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair
- Electrical Safety knowledge and practice, NFPA70E Certification required (can be attained as part of onboarding)
- Customer Focus with strong communication skills
- Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams, schematics, one-lines, and technical product specifications
- Ability and willingness to work in various environments (construction, industrial, indoor electrical room, outdoor)
- Ability to use computer-based and mobile applications to respond to and document service activities
- Self-starter mentality with strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
- The ability to lift 40 lbs and work on your feet
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience working in an electrical capacity in field service and/or production environments
- Electrical Journeyman, Master Electrician License, or Electrical Engineering Bachelor’s Degree
- Power electronics familiarity, product experience with UPS power inverters, transformers, rectifiers, solid-state devices, battery chargers, power and the methods used in testing industrial power equipment.
- Knowledge of hazards involved in working on or near energized equipment and proper safety precautions.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High comfort level establishing and growing relationships with customers and internal partners
