Field Service Technician

Field Service Technician will support installations, maintenance, repair, and training for Kurz machinery and related finishing equipment. This role is hands-on, customer-facing, and critical to ensuring the optimal performance of our equipment in the field. The position requires frequent travel and occasional international assignments.

  • Install, commission, and maintain Kurz machinery at customer sites.
  • Provide onsite and remote troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair services.
  • Support in-house equipment at Kurz remote warehouses.
  • Train operators and end-users on machine operation, maintenance, and process optimization.
  • Assist with the identification and ordering of spare parts in coordination with customers and internal teams.
  • Rebuild and refurbish used equipment to meet operational standards.
  • Deliver prompt, professional support during equipment malfunctions or emergency situations.
  • Ensure all activities comply with company safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Complete service reports and maintain accurate documentation of work performed.
  • Collaborate with engineering and customer service teams to escalate and resolve technical issues.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Skills and Abilities

    • Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, automation controls, and electrical/pneumatic schematics.
    • Proficient with PLCs, servo drives, frequency controllers, safety circuits, and sensors.
    • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
    • Problem Solving: Proactive, analytical thinker with the ability to troubleshoot independently in high-pressure situations.
    • Work Ethic: Self-starter with a strong sense of accountability and a collaborative team mindset.
    • Physical Requirements: Able to lift up to–50 lbs., climb stairs, and work in both standing and seated positions for extended periods.
    • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in quality inspections and identifying machine performance issues.

Experience and Education

  • Associate’s Degree or Technical Certification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Technology (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • 1–3 years of experience in technical maintenance or service roles.
  • Familiarity with converting machines, web processing systems, or similar industrial machinery.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); SAP experience is a plus.
