Field Service Specialist
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
We are looking for a self-starter Field Service Specialist to deliver the desired customer service experience. The goal is to drive service success that improves customer satisfaction, maximizes product reliability and increases profitability.
• Assist the Field Service Engineer in the testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and warranty support of delivered fleets.
• Quickly and accurately troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues and determine what is needed to get the equipment running again.
• Verify proper hook up of cables completed by other Technicians prior to energizing.
• Build test fixtures and perform bench measurements.
• Assist assembly with questions and pretest hardware and wiring checks.
• Conduct special testing when necessary for engineering.
• Assist with new personnel training.
• Ability to design test fixtures and perform bench measurements.
• Remove and install components and access paneling to perform diagnosis on a frequent basis.
• Operate and test equipment after repair and make critical component and system adjustments.
• Complete assigned service reports needed to document parts and labor expenses and repair methodology.
• Communicate with customers to teach them how to correctly use our equipment and decrease future needs.
• Perform field modifications and retrofits on delivered equipment throughout the warranty period.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
• High School Diploma (or GED equivalency); two-year vocational education certificate or equivalent knowledge is .
• This position requires a minimum of 2 – 3 years of industry-related experience to reach competency.
• Proven multi-tasking skills able to handle multiple projects simultaneously within a manufacturing environment; work within aggressive timelines collaboratively with cross-functional departments.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a strong contributor in a team environment on complex projects.
• Detail-oriented, dependable, motivated, ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Experience with or knowledge with High voltage up to 700V DC and proficient use of electrical test equipment. (Voltmeter, Oscilloscope, etc.)
• Experience in creating test plans and test specifications for safety critical systems, test techniques recommended by the railway safety standards is an asset (EN 50126, EN 50128, EN 50129).
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
