The Opportunity – Field Service Engineer

About the role:
We’re looking for a skilled Service Engineer to join the team at Gunn JCB, servicing a wide range of JCB machinery. This role offers variety, responsibility, and the chance to work for an organisation that values quality and customer satisfaction. You’ll play a key part in diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and ensuring our customers receive exceptional service.
What does this role involve day to day?
- As this is a field-based role, you'll be required to travel around the area of the Shrewsbury Gunn JCB Depot.
- Servicing and maintaining all JCB equipment.
- Carrying out routine maintenance, thorough examinations, and after-service repairs.
- Diagnosing faults, repairing, and testing equipment.
- Ordering parts and liaising with the service office to update customers.
- Completing paperwork electronically via a laptop.
- Undertaking risk assessments and ensuring safe working practices.
- Working flexibly, including outside normal hours when required.
- Maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
This will be suited to you if…
- You’re a qualified engineer in this or a similar industry.
- You have experience working on plant equipment within construction or industrial applications.
- You have strong knowledge of hydraulics, engines, electrics, and fault diagnosis.
- You hold a full, clean driving licence.
- You’re flexible, proactive, and able to work independently.
- You have good communication skills and are competent with paperwork and computer systems.
- You have a positive attitude and the ability to adapt to new technology.
- Previous main dealer experience is an advantage.
