Profile:
An opportunity to join a global OEM that has multiple business units across the UK with an excellent support network alongside top quality technical back-up. You will be working with a talented team of engineers and technicians, supervising sub-contractors and liaising directly with clients on behalf of the company at a site level. As well as contributing to the strategy and growth of Transformer Service by delivering high-quality, cost-effective projects and solutions in line with our processes, quality standards and safety guidelines. We expect a focus to provide the best possible customer service and help to identify new business opportunities.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- You’ll be playing a key role within a team of knowledgeable and experienced engineers/technicians – undertaking and coordinating service activities on site, whilst keeping a close eye on H&S and quality standards, schedules and progress reporting to ensure customer satisfaction.
- You would be responsible for transformer service activities including installation and commissioning, carrying out refurbishments, device replacements, routine maintenance, inspections and identifying problems to assist with providing analysis for recommendations.
- You’ll co-ordinate all delivered parts, materials and components for each project and optimize the use of your resources to meet delivery and performance targets as effectively as possible. You’ll lead jobs from start to finish under the direction of the project manager and to clients’ requirements
- You’ll also maintain project site documentation and check lists, prepare reports and help to resolve any issues on site. You’ll provide feedback to assist with identifying and recommending effective new solutions to help meet business and/or customer needs.
- Of course, you’ll apply all safety rules and follow safe practices – as well as keeping environmental responsibilities in mind. But you’ll also assess and highlight hazards and implement actions to ensure the safety of both people and equipment.
- In essence, we’ll depend on you to help us provide operational excellence in pursuit of our aim of delivering the best customer service in the business.
Ideal Background:
- Engineering-related HNC (electrical desirable), apprenticeship scheme or suitable industry experience
- Experience within the power sector (installation/service/maintenance desirable) and/or a broad knowledge of power engineering plant and equipment, i.e. transformers. Desirable experience may include…
- Mechanical installations
- Switchgear
- Leading a team/management of subcontractors
- Cabling/wiring installation
- Oil handling/processing/sampling
- Device function checks
- Power equipment testing instruments, Omicron/Megger etc.
- Able to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
- Suitable qualifications such as IPAF, PASMA, CCNSG, though training will be provided
- Computer literate with knowledge of relevant software
- Full driving license
- Fluent understanding of English (spoken and written)

Have a flexible attitude in working hours as you will be travelling the nation and sometimes on short notice. Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. Finally having a positive mindset and systematic approach are keen to learn and develop.
