Summary
As a Field Service Engineer, you will travel to customer sites and perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair activities on SENS equipment. Supporting SENS Customer Service, you will be responsible for boots on the ground field service support, carrying the necessary tools and equipment. Travel availability and flexibility are essential to the role, primarily domestic with possible international travel. You will have the opportunity to support all product lines that SENS offers and increase your knowledge as our product offerings expand. Responsibilities
- Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Work directly with customers and installers in the field providing various field service activities for SENS offerings from planned maintenance, equipment upgrades, troubleshooting, and repair
- Utilize SENS specifications, drawings, certified electrical standards, work instructions, procedures and customer orders to ensure product matches requirements
- Responsible for testing electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeter, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes; to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
- Perform battery testing on VRLA, lead acid, Lithium-ion, Nickle-zinc and salt batteries.
- Install battery monitoring systems on new and existing battery strings.
- Responsible for adhering to all safety regulations and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Keep detailed records to ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies and parts
- Testing of products to ensure adherence to customer requirements
- When not travelling, support by answering technical support calls, returned material evaluation and equipment troubleshooting in the lab
- Maintain an intermediate level of product knowledge and applications
- Assist with computer network applications including troubleshooting and installation
- Maintain and transport a toolkit sufficient for the majority of field service tasks
- Feedback observations, customer concerns, and common issues encountered
Required Qualifications
- Electrical and mechanical aptitude to perform real-time troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair
- Electrical safety knowledge and practices
- Battery handling and testing experience
- Strong communication skills
- Customer relation skills
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, one lines, and specification literature
- Ability and willingness to work in various environments, including active construction sites.
- Ability to use digital tools to respond to and document service requests
- Self-starter mentality with strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
- The ability to lift 80 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods of time.
- 50% to 70% of travel required, domestic and occasional international travel.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent training in an electrical/electronic trade school or company provided journeyman path.
- 3+ years of related experience with troubleshooting, maintenance, installation and repair.
- Computer networking application experience
- Telecom equipment knowledge
- NFPA-70e, LOTO, OSHA-10, First Aid/CPR/AED training
Location: This position is located on-site in Longmont, CO when not traveling.
Base Compensation: $75,000 - $86,000 is the projected range of annual base salary for this role depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience.
