Field Safety Specialist

Cougar Companies are seeking a highly motivated Bi-lingual Field Safety Specialist to join our team. The qualified applicant must have verifiable experience as a safety professional in the Construction Industry (Vertical & Tilt-up, Heavy Civil/Sitework and Utilities). Must be a self-starter who possesses initiative and can work independently.


Job Summary


The Field Safety Specialist will travel to job sites and be responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for employees at our job sites within Southwest Florida. This position involves working closely with employees, foremen, supervisors, and the Safety Director to identify, evaluate, and eliminate safety hazards. The Field Safety Specialist will coordinate and conduct safety training and inspections, as well as promoting safety awareness as an example, coach, and mentor.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct worksite audits to identify potential risks and ensure regulatory and job site compliance.
  • Inspect operations to identify safety hazards and success stories to help develop safety training materials.
  • Monitor safety performance in the workplace and provide feedback to employees and field team leaders.
  • Promote safety awareness through training and informational materials.
  • Stay up to date with regulatory changes and update SOPs as needed.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to determine root causes and develop corrective action plans

Skills

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in occupational safety or a related field a plus.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a construction industry related safety role required.
  • Bilingual communication skills (English/Spanish) required.
  • OSHA 10- or 30-hour card .
  • Knowledge of industry-specific safety standards.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Attention to detail.
